The obstacle
Disability access and participation
Esther runs a tailoring business in Wote and uses a wheelchair. Her workshop is at street level, which she chose deliberately.
Almost nothing else she needs is. The bank has three steps. The county offices have a ramp that ends at a closed side door. She has stopped attending public meetings because of where they are held.
She is direct that she does not want sympathy. She wants the meetings moved to ground floor rooms.
What gives hope
Public meetings held in accessible venues as a standing rule, not a favour asked each time.
